Jane Whorton
Jane Whorton joined the
English department at PRCC in 1987. She teaches English Composition
I and II as well as World Literature I.
Mrs. Whorton received a Bachelor
of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas and a Master of Education
degree from the University of Florida. She has done additional gradutate
study at the University of Southern Mississippi. Prior to coming
at PRCC, Mrs. Whorton taught in the public schools in Arkansas and Mississippi.
In addition she has taught at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville,
FL, and William Carey College in Hattiesburg. Mrs. Whorton and her
husband, who is a professor at USM, live in Hattiesburg. They have
two married children, both of whom are teachers and writers.
In addition to her teaching
responsibilities at the River, Mrs. Whorton works with various campus activities
including the "Welcome to PRC" picnic, the homecoming court festivities,
and the Parade of Beauties. During her leisure time, she enjoys camping
with her family, gardening, and reading. |
